||2007 Reunion Minutes (42nd Reunion)|
ARNOLD CHRISTIANSEN FAMILY REUNION
August 4, 2007
The 42nd Annual Reunion of the descendants of Arnold & Alma Christiansen was held Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Brainard’s Bridge Park in Waupaca.
The business meeting was called to order at 2:22 p.m. by Presidents Jennifer Grimm and Sara Hales.
Roll call was recorded prior to the meeting. 44 family members and 7 guests were present, making a total of 51 attendees.
The oldest family member present was Ellen Christensen, 90. The youngest family member present was Makya Schroeder, 7.
Farthest travelers were Richard Button, Richard Tamayo and Kurstin Button, Bryson City, North Carolina, 840 miles.
Reunion Co-Secretary Courtney Rowe read the minutes from last year’s reunion. They were approved as read.
Treasurer Ryan Malone was absent. On his behalf, the Presidents reported a very successful pre-reunion fund drive this year, with 20 family members donating a total of $610.00
The family fund shows a current balance of $824.25. Reunion expenses for the year have been met. Annual expenses for the fiscal year were $565.00. Because of family members’ generous donations, we start our next fiscal year with surplus funding awaiting your ideas for improvements and suggestions for future reunions.
Old Business: Becky Culton reported that she is still looking for recipes for a family cookbook. Anyone with recipes should send them to her.
New Business: Judy Malone recommended we do committees differently since it hasn’t been working out in the last few years with the sign-up sheet. Motions were made and carried to standardize Entertainment and Ways and Means each year.
Entertainment will now be a standard “talent show” and anyone can bring a talent to share.
Ways & Means will now be a standard silent auction every year. Family members should bring an auction item each year, and their “Powerful Pennies” or loose change for donation jars.
Special thanks was extended to Julian Rowe for providing the gas grill used at the reunion and for letting us use his truck to transport all of our reunion food and supplies.
The Family Historian’s Report was read by Jennifer Grimm.
Deb Kamp-Schroeder was elected Secretary for the 2008 Reunion.
A silent auction was held and donation containers were placed throughout the shelter house. Chris Anklam's “Powerful Pennies” were also collected for the fourth year in a row. Ways & Means Chairpersons Todd Grimm and Heather Westley reported that $256.49 was raised during the day.
Susan Eggers and Dennis Schroeder were named Party Poopers. They were nominated by Deb Kamp-Schroeder because they got an award during the 2006 Reunion and didn’t show up in 2007.
Richard Button was named Most Valuable Family Member. He was nominated by Jennifer Grimm and Sara Hales for driving all the way to Waupaca from North Carolina.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:55 pm.
